a preview for the cover story of the latest "icons" issue of vogue hommes japan has leaked. the editorial, shot by steven klein, features eight hunky male models in a surreal bondage context portraying that sexual imagery which the photographer is famous for. you can look at the rest of the leaked (and censored) images here. even though the censorship is unlikely to appear in the actual editorial, speculations about the possibility seem to have become stronger with time. as a fashion enthusiast, art lover, and as a man, the idea of censoring the male figure simply disgusts me and therefore no censored images will be posted in this blog. it is without a doubt, a stupid belief that it is fine to censor male nudity and celebrate the female naked body. this dilemma has always been part of the fashion industry and is an issue that needs a post of its own; this will not be it. the editorial, however, seems to have become a step towards that equality and i am thankful for both the photographer and the magazine. hopefully, we will see more appreciation of the male figure in editorials to come.
